It took me some time, but I’m finally working on getting some proper use for the PointstoSeats Instagram profile, besides simply reposting content from the blog. Instead, these will be Instagram-specific and not necessarily appear on the main blog as well. I’m rolling out initiatives that I’ve been testing the last few days that aim to summarize or quickly post alerts to intriguing bonuses and offers. Let me take you through some of additions and what to expect!

New on Instagram: Review Summaries
Simply put, there’s an increasingly large demographic that doesn’t necessarily want to read entire reviews, and I realize my content can be quite verbose. This blog will be lost on those people, and that’s okay – but I’d like to see if my reviews can reach this demographic in a different way. And heck, I can’t blame them: sometimes I also just want the quick version! I’ll scroll down to pictures of the seat without reading a single word of somebody’s review so I understand the sentiment.
As a solution to this ‘challenge’, I have been experimenting with using AI tools to generate summaries and little slide decks that would distill my reviews down to the key messages and conclusions, and encapsulate it all into a simple ‘verdict’. I think I’ve been successful at this now, and at this point I posted two of these. The most recent one summarizes my recent Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9 Business Class Review, and I think it came out very nice, if I say so myself:
Clearly there are some quirks that could be ironed out, and in upcoming summaries such as this I’ll probably spend a little bit more time editing. I’m curious to hear what you all think, so let me know in the comments your thoughts and if this is of interest to you.
To be clear, I’m still the one making all the original content, so that will not change. However, I will use Ai to assist and create pretty summary decks such as the one above.
Also New on Instagram: ‘Alert’ Reels
The second thing I’ve been working on are reels. I know, that’s not some sort of earth shattering new feature – but it is for me, and it is for PointstoSeats! To get right to it: I’ve always hated making and editing videos on Instagram. It’s a small screen and I find the controls very finicky. I just have no patience for it.
But here’s the kicker: there’s a lot of little bits of news out there that, quite frankly, don’t necessarily need a whole blog post. Think of credit card transfer bonuses, new credit card welcome bonuses, and these sorts of things that would benefit from a timely announcement of their existing without much fanfare.
So, rather than spend an hour writing a blog post, I can record a 30-60 second video, do a quick AI-supported edit on my phone, and post it. Plus, it has the benefit that aforementioned demographic that prefers short-form videos would find this more appealing. So, two birds with one stone, as they say. I’m calling these ‘alert’ reels and I just posted the first of these:

Summary
AI has made things much quicker and easier, and so making content-rich, beautiful summaries and informational videos has become a lot easier. I’ve decided to try and co-opt these tools to summarize my reviews in order to provide review summaries on Instagram. Additionally, I’ll be posting ‘alerts’ on credit card transfer bonuses and welcome offers more often on Instagram in shirt-form video formats, posted to the PointstoSeats Insagram profile as reels.
